DIRECTOR STATEMENT
The idea for this film came from thinking about what would happen to a person if they challenged the societal expectations around the need to say thank you. I thought the stakes would be higher if that was happening to a character dealing with intense loss. I liked the idea of an artist using their work as catharsis to process both the mystery of their body, and the bafflement of becoming an unexpected social outcast. I wanted to explore how through all that, the act of making art can be both terrifying and empowering.
