SYNOPSIS

Jack accidentally befriends the granddaughter of the Grim Reaper and much to his surprise is taken on a day of mundane human experiences, all the while facing questions about his own mortality.

DIRECTOR BIO

Kevin Friesen jumped head first into a career as a stuntman in Vancouver Canada at the age of 21, performing in numerous arenas including the TV show ‘The Outer Limits’ . What was supposed to be a long and successful stunt career for Kevin, was intercepted by an unknown skill and passion for acting. Kevin landed many roles in various commercials and independent shorts and films: ‘NHL-Swedish Twins’, ‘Moosehead Beer’, ‘Case File 202’, ‘In your Head’, ‘Swishy Washy’, ‘Paramedics’, ‘Time Sits Still’ and a popular German feature shot in minus 38 degrees in Calgary Alberta.
Consequently, after years of training and working as an actor Kevin combined his own personal understanding of acting with a naturally keen eye for bringing a script to life and began to build up his skills in directing, quickly learning the ropes with Boldfish Entertainment on short films and documentaries including the documentary Paths of Dust and Hope, shot in Mozambique. Kevin later shot and directed short films in Sydney and Siem Reap like ‘Beautiful’ and ‘Youth With Mission’. He then went on to direct his finalist awarded comedic short film, ‘The Cookie’. Amongst his passion for acting and directing, Kevin has recently turned his industry expertise to help build the regional film community and directed and starred in a series of short promotional films for the Hervey Bay Film Festival alongside stunt legend, Nathan Jones. He is on the board of Screen Fraser Coast and is coming along to help direct the Fraser Shorts Film Festival for 2025. Whether it's acting, directing, writing or just running a few cables on set, Kevin loves the film industry and is keen to see it grow in regional areas making it accessible to the regional film communities.

DIRECTOR STATEMENT

Hello Reaper was a passion project filmed entirely in Hervey Bay QLD, Australia. The story touches upon loss, grief and hope through the genre of comedy. The collaboration between the actors, crew and local film practitioners was inspiring and a testament to the power of regional film and great story-telling.
